Basketball for Development Center Mutengene inaugurated On Saturday the 26th of November the Basketball for Development Center in Mutengene was successfully inaugurated. Mrs. Katrin Simon, the attaché culturel of the German Embassy in Yaoundé arrived in Mutengene to cut the ribbon and to experience an exciting youth tournament and lots of other interesting activities. Basketball for Development Center Mutengene Inauguration 26th of November 2011 The Basketball for Development Center in Mutengene South West Region will be inaugurated November 26th 2011. In collaboration with the Cameroonian Basketball Federation and national partners working in resource management and conservation, malaria and HIV/AIDS prevention and education an inauguration tournament will be carried out. The event will take place on the 26.11.2011 from 9 a.m. until late afternoon.
Ruben Boumtje Boumtje supports Basketball for Development e.V. Ruben Boumtje Boumtje (born May 20, 1978 in Edea, Cameroon) is a Cameroonian professional basketball player. He is a 7'0", 245 lbs center. He is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., U.S., and played in the NBA.

Basketball for Development Centre Mutengene almost finalised! After three month construction period and some difficulties the Mutengene Basketball for development center is almost finalised. Since serious rains have already started in June the construction was not as easy as initialy planned. After completion of the court and the building we'll now stop and continue after the heavy rains in October and plan the inauguration tournament for November.
On the 18th and 22nd of February the FENASSCO League B Tournament for girls and boys took place at the Molyko Sports Complex.The semi finals and finals were played at the 22nd of February. A fair play award was donated by Basketball for Development e.V. As usual the teams awarded points to each other electing the winners.
Teams came from the following schools with girls and boys teams each:
After evaluating the points we had the special situation to have four winners. Two girls teams and two boys teams had equal points. The winners are: GS Buea Town Group II Girls GS Ndongo Girls GS Buea Town Group I Boys GS Ndongo Boys The players-all together 52 kids- are going to receive a one year membership in the BUEA MUTUAL HEALTH ORGANISATION with a value of 3.500 FCFA per person plus registration fee for the team, which will cover 75% of their hospital, consultation and drug bills in case of sickness. Basketball for Development Fair Play Award for Youth Day Regional Basketball Tournament Buea On the 15th of February 2011 the Fair Play Award took place in a handing over ceremony at Tiko 3813 restaurant. Present were the Zion Creekers Tiko, representatives of the South West Regional League of Basketball and Basketball for Development. The winner from the team ZION CREEKERS TIKO received a one year membership in the TIKO MUTUAL HEALTH ORGANISATION with a value of 3.500 FCFA per person plus registration fee for the team, which will cover 75% of their hospital, consultation and drug bills in case of sickness.
Mutengene Basketball for Development construction site visit On the 15th of January the Basketball for Development team inspected the proposed construction site in Mutengene. Rev. Pastor Godlove Toguh explained the participants the plans for the school extension. The location for the new basketball court as well as all necessary steps for the application were discussed and concluded. .
Basketball for Development Support Veteran Team participates on second Day of Play of the South West Regional League of Basketball.
Basketball for Development sponsored waste gathering campaign at Government Bilingual Grammar School in Molyko the 12th of January During the campaign waste bags were handed out to every team and the entire sports complex was cleaned up. More than 170 kids and young people registered for Basketball for Development activities. Quite a number of players, but also voluntary coaches, trainers and supporters registered.
